Invisalign in Burlington, VT

For many adult patients, just the thought of wearing metal braces with the uncomfortable brackets and wires is enough to deter them from accepting the orthodontic care they need. However, thanks to advances in modern dentistry, there is now a clear solution for braces: Invisalign.

What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system designed to straighten misaligned teeth gradually. The treatment involves wearing a series of custom, removable aligners as your teeth shift over time.

While Invisalign is highly sought after as a form of orthodontic treatment, not everyone may be a candidate; Dr. Novak will first assess your oral health and smile to determine if you are eligible for Invisalign. If you are a candidate, Dr. Novak will take impressions of your teeth so that a treatment plan can put together for your case. The impressions will be sent to the dental lab to create a series of customized aligners based on your treatment plan.

Once the aligners have been made, your treatment can begin. For optimal results, you should wear the aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. The Invisalign treatment requires you to replace your aligners with the next set in the series every one to two weeks, depending on your progress. Dr. Novak will help you schedule regular appointments approximately every six weeks to review your progress until your treatment is fully complete.

Benefits of Invisalign

Besides being virtually invisible to the naked eye, Invisalign clear aligners offer many benefits, including:

  • The smooth, soft material the aligners are made from does not irritate the gums or mouth.
  • They’re removable! The aligners can be removed at any time, which means there are no food restrictions, and you can continue to practice brushing and flossing regularly.
  • You save time with Invisalign. Compared to traditional orthodontic treatments, there are fewer visits to the dentist required.
