Next, Dr. Novak will perform a careful examination of your tooth to make sure that it does not have decay already present. If you do show signs of decay, the tooth will need to be treated with a filling rather than a sealant.

If you are eligible for dental sealants, Dr. Novak will prepare your tooth for the sealant by applying a mild solution to its surface. This solution will make the surface of your tooth slightly rougher so that the coating can bond to it successfully. Then, Dr. Novak will apply the plastic coating to the enamel and use a special light to harden it in place.
